More about The Course Leader, Tanya Freedman Tanya has worked in UK’s London corporate world for 14 years before starting her family. She then settled into contented self-employment as an artist in the 1990s. Exhibiting her artwork in galleries and selling prints and greeting cards of her work (and other crafts) she learned invaluable tricks of the trade regarding customer service and listening and watching out for trends.
When she immigrated to Canada in 1999 because of her husband’s career in the pharmaceutical industry, she found a niche in importing English antiques that she sold to high carriage antique dealers all over Ontario. But although the self-confessed workaholic loved her new business, she decided to prioritize her young family. She had to find a less demanding business that wouldn’t force her to travel every few weeks. So using her artistic talents she began teaching small classes from her basement studio.
Before the year was out Tanya was expanding her business into a larger enterprise, which included creating unique birthday parties, seasonal camps and after-school programs. She moved her studio to a larger art studio in Richmond Hill, where Jolly Good Art and her reputation grew in the community. Her ability to listen to the customers – the children as well as the parents – and to give the best quality service at the most competitive rates in a secure and fun environment made Jolly Good Arta smashing success.
After five years, always up for new challenges, Tanya Freedman’s writing career gave her the opportunity to make her second love a reality. Becoming a published author. Although she writes about business, health, as well as fiction, she makes sure she prioritizes her family and mentors youth in her community, as well as budding entrepreneurs. Through her inspirational presentations, TV appearances and courses Tanya reaches a wider audience and pays forward her blessings. She also does volunteer work in the community and is Chair for Youth Leadership Program (YLP) for Toastmasters International’s Division D.
